     The Wallkill Valley Regional High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) hosted Super Night 2014 for the benefit of the March of Dimes on November 21, 2014, from 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. the following morning in the high school gymnasium. Three hundred students participated. Activities during this ten-hour lock-in included a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, volleyball tournament, dodgeball tournament, movie night, the Dating Game, and a Jell-O eating contest. Trophies and medals were awarded for each tournament: 3-on-3 Basketball – Kyle Sekelsky, Justin VanDyne, David Pluvoise; Volleyball – Alex Thomson, Troy Curtis, Rich Stecher, Ryan Higgins, Jason McWilliams, Brad Worthington, Travis Hill, Kyle Mowles; Dodgeball – Brad Worthington, Kyle Mowles, Rich Stecher, Ryan Higgins, Travis Hill, Jason McWilliams; Jell-O Eating Contest – Erika McNulty; and the Dating Game – Joey Tizzano won a date with Morgan Penque, and Gabby Conte won a date with Tanner Kronski.

     In order to participate in the event, students were required to raise a minimum of $50 for the March of Dimes; prizes were awarded to the top fundraising students: 1st place – Derek Hendershot; 2nd place – Nick Martucci; 3rd place – Michael McCurry; and 4th place – Dylan Swenson. Wallkill Valley FBLA’s Community Service Vice Presidents Alexa Batelli and Fiona Brown did an outstanding job in planning the event, organizing activities, and securing food and drinks from the local community. They were assisted by the Super Night Committee. The theme this year was “When I Grow Up…Transforming Tomorrow.”

     A school assembly was held on November 12, which outlined the details of the event. Mr. Matthew Rohsler, the 2014 Skylands March for Babies Chairman, presented the FBLA chapter with the first place top fundraising school in Northern New Jersey in 2013-2014. A video highlighted how the March of Dimes assisted Aiden, this year’s March of Dimes National Ambassador.

     Wallkill Valley FBLA received first place for their efforts in fundraising and spreading the March of Dimes message at the 2014 FBLA State Leadership Conference and first place in the nation at the 2014 FBLA National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tennessee. Additionally, Wallkill Valley FBLA received a $1,000 Mission LIFT grant at the National Leadership Conference, which was utilized toward Super Night 2014. The chapter members are committed to the mission of the March of Dimes and are thrilled with their March of Dimes 2014 donation of $20,500!
